Homes and Fashion Top Color Trends for 2017
Each year, color experts and paint companies travel around the world scouting hues for home and design. Now that it’s 2017, top industry taste-makers have unveiled the color trend forecasts that will define this New Year.
Pantone. Every year as tradition marks, leaders at Pantone release their color trend for the year which they predict will be displayed prominently in fashion, life, and design trends. And according to Pantone, 2017 is the year of ‘Greenery.’ It’s a fresh and revitalizing color that will bring on new life to dated living areas and bring nature indoors.
Benjamin Moore. Color forecasters at Benjamin Moore named ‘Shadow’ as their color for 2017. This richly saturated amethyst color packs a dramatic but also versatile statement. It can be soft in natural lighting and royal and eclectic by candlelight.
Behr. Similar to Benjamin Moore, experts at Behr tell us to look out for rich earth-inspired tones and deep jewel-toned shades. This Noir palette (dark grays, dark blues, dark greens, etc.) is not necessarily for an entire home but would make for amazing accents and create a nice balance with lighter features.
Farrow & Ball. Going along with the predictions from Pantone, curators of luxury paint at Farrow & Ball have released their 2017 paint collection which features their top shade ‘Studio Green No. 93.’ This dark green shade is absolutely stunning when paired with crisp white molding and trim work. It’s a seductive color, which paired with charcoal and leather accents will give a more refined and updated look to any room.
If you can’t bring yourself to step out of your comfort zone with vibrant green or richly colored walls, don’t worry, soft and delicate neutrals aren’t completely scrapped. While 2016 was the year for crisp white, 2017 will continue the tradition while also adding misty colors like rose quartz and light grey. These colors still give a bit of attitude while brightening and freshening up small and dark rooms. Whatever your taste, a fresh coat of paint will do wonders to liven up a space and get those creative juices flowing.
